  Amazing food and outstanding service. Not to be confused with an Olive Garden. Smaller portions of exquisitely prepared Italian dishes with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Can't wait to go back.

  We had a delicious and enjoyable dinner at Gocciolina last week. The evening started out a bit rough, as we had reservations for two months for ten people, and they were no where near ready for us. They worked hard to make it up, so after a wait, we received appetizers on the house and excellent food and service. We had the Grilled Whole Fish Italian Sea Bass. The fish was flaky and flavorful with a mixture of lime and chilies. We'll definitely go again for the food!

  One of my favorite restaurants in Durham. Great Italian food. Local fresh ingredients. Good wine list. I've never had a bad meal there.

  Gosh so many great Italian restaurants in Durham! Mother and Sons, The Boot and Gocciolina. They all seem to differ and vary if you can appreciate the nuanced differences in what each restaurant is trying to achieve. Do not miss this one! Gocciolina only needs to work on their reservation system which is a nightmare but admittedly, does add to the charm. We end up choosing to eat at mother and sons and the boot as its easier to know if you can get a table and they are much closer to where we live (downtown Durham).
